Mrs Edith Dankwa is the President of the Institute. She has built a solid reputation over the years in rendering consultancy services on marketing communications and as an advisor on business investment related issues. She has also served as a market entry strategist for foreign businesses seeking to extend their operations to Africa. She is also the Group Publisher /CEO of Business Times Africa Magazine (BT), Energy Today Magazine (ET) and Africa’s leading source of credible and relevant business information, the Business& Financial Times (B&FT) newspaper and BIA Conferences.
Over the past decade, Edith Dankwa has effectively developed and transformed Ghana’s most successful business media house, Business & Financial Times Limited, into a formidable entity. Under her visionary leadership, B&FT Limited has extended its product and service range to serve both local and international markets through the publishing of her company’s flagship product Business & Financial Times newspaper.As a publisher, Edith also runs the Pan African business monthly, Business Times Magazine and the quarterly Pan African energy industry publication, Energy Today Magazine both of which are accessible in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ghana and other emerging markets in Africa and beyond.
With Mrs. Dankwa foresight and vision, the company diversified into event management in 2005, which now operates under the name BIA CONFERENCES. BIA conferences executes a number of projects and events including the biennial Ghana’s Most Respected Company and CEOs Awards, a peer –review CEO survey and awards organised in collaboration with PWC Ghana, and the annual African Business Leaders Forum, a high profile thought leadership conference that brings together top executives from both private –and-public-sector organisations from across Africa. She has also spearheaded the annual Ghana Economic Forum, Ghana’s premier economic policy advocacy platform that collects views of industry players on topical economic issues and forwards these views to policy makers for consideration and adoption.
Over the years, her organization has organized several informative and educative events such as, a day’s international seminar on the Deregulation of the Petroleum Downstream Sector for the Ministries of Energy and Finance Ghana, which ushered Ghana into the Petroleum Deregulation era:Best Sector Performance Awards, the Life Assurance Forum, the Ghana Private Medical and Dental Awards, West African Banking Congress, Ghana Auto Expo, Northern Business and Investment Fair, the Western Business& Investment Fair, and Ashanti Business & Investment fair.
Mrs. Dankwa’s achievements were recognised in 2012 by the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana, which adjudged her as the ‘Best Print Media Entrepreneur’ for the year 2011 in Ghana. She was also recognised by an independent television network, eTV Ghana as one of the 100 Most Influential Personalities in Ghana for 2013. She has steered Business & Financial Times Limited to attain many laurels including being awarded a Superbrand status in 2012 and adjudged the Best Newspaper for Social Security Reporting by Ghana’s pension’sorganisation, the Social Security and Insurance Trust in 2012 and 2013.
Mrs. Dankwa has served on a number of boards including TV3, Ghana’s biggest private television network, and the International Chamber of Commerce (Ghana). She is also the chairperson of the African Business Leaders Foundation. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management Studies from the University of Cape Coast, a Post Graduate Certificate in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing - Ghana, a Post Graduate Certificate in Newspaper Management from Inwent International Institute of Journalism, Germany and an Executive MBA from the GIMPA Business School. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Business Administration (International Business) from Walden University in the USA.
